Vishwak Sen’s Paagal Review: Boring Feast

Paagal Telugu Movie Review

Tollywood’s young actor Vishwak Sen is testing his luck with a youthful romantic entertainer titled Paagal. The film is directed by Naresh Kuppili and Paagal features Nivetha Pethuraj, Simran Chaudhary and Megha Lekha as the leading ladies. Radhan composed the music and background score for Paagal and the film is produced by Dil Raju and Bekkam Venugopal jointly. Here is the complete review of Paagal:

Story: Paagal is the story of Prem (Vishwak Sen) who stages a hunt for the right girl for unconditional love. He doesn’t restrict it to one person and proposes to all the girls he reaches. He wants the right girl who loves him as his mother did. He comes across Teera (Nivetha Pethuraj) after he attempts suicide. Teera is already engaged and the rest of Paagal is all about his equation with Teera and how Prem chooses Raji. Watch the film to know about the real twist and about Raji.

Positives:

First Half

Entertainment

Background score

Cinematography

Negatives:

Second half

Rushed important episodes

Pale twists.

Performances: Vishwak Sen fits well in the role and it is a tailor-made attempt for the actor. He excels as Prem and does his part well. He is flawless with his entertainment and offers a treat. Nivetha Pethuraj performed well and sticks to the performance. She is emotional and her expressions speak a lot. Simran Chaudhary and Megha Lekha are good with their looks and they too performed well.

Murali Sharma has a decent role and he shines with perfection as always. Rahul Ramakrishna generates enough fun and he is good in the assignment. All the other actors did their roles well. Paagal has a sleek plot and the core point is disappointing and not well justified. The crucial points in the film seemed to be narrated in a rush and they make no sense. The screenplay is decent and the dialogues are good. The cinematography work stands out throughout the film and the background score is decent. The songs are pretty average though a couple of songs are shot well. The production values are grand enough. Debutant Naresh Kuppili disappoints with his attempt.

Verdict: Paagal has a manageable first half and a boring, poorly written second half makes the film fall flat. Paagal is a disappointment.

Negatives:

Nabha Natesh

Performances:

Nithiin keeps the audience breath-holding and the actor offers a perfect treat. He shines in the role of a blind piano player and he is good throughout the film. Tamannaah is the other highlight of the film and she is excellent in the role. Tamannaah looks ultra glamorous in the role though she could not match Tabu from the original. Naresh shines in the short role and Jisshu Sengupta was good as a cop. Nabha Natesh has nothing much to do in the film except during the first half. All the other actors are good in their roles.

Maestro has an interesting plot and the screenplay is the highlight of this crime thriller. The director decided to stick to the original and he did not miss the soul of the film. The music and the cinematography are the added strengths of Maestro. The production values are good and the film is shot across the beautiful locations of Dubai, Hyderabad and Pondicherry. The film’s director Merlapaka Gandhi had enough clarity about dealing the remake of Andhadhun and he did his best.

Verdict:

Maestro is a faithful remake of Andhadhun which has no deviations. The performances and the technical aspects are the strengths of this crime thriller.
