Khaidi fame Lokesh Kanagaraj directed this mass entertainer and Malavika Mohanan is the leading lady. Vijay Sethupathi is the lead antagonist and XB Film Creators are the producers. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director and heere is the complete review of Master:
Story: Master is the story of JD (Vijay), a top class professor who is addicted to alcohol. Though he gets criticized by some of them in the college but he is lauded by many by the end of the day. After an unexpected and unfortunate incident, JD gets forced to get out from the college and he moves to a juvenile home. It is then Bhavani (Vijay Sethupathi) enters his life and the rest of the film is all about the clash between JD and Bhavani. Watch Master to know about the entire story.
Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi
Dragged Second half Length
Boring and slow paced at times
Master has a decent first half as it is packed with two interesting fights and good elevations. The songs are shot well and the interval episode elevates the film well. The first half is completely passable. The second half of Master is a huge disappointment as the film is completely predictable, offerings nothing new, dragged mostly and ends up on a below average note. The length of Master is the biggest drawbacks of the film.
Performances: Vijay tops the show and he carries the entire film on his shoulders. His body language and mannerisms are his strengths. He will thrill his fans with his fantastic performance and screen presence. Vijay Sethupaathi is the other highlight of the film and he is the other show stealer of Master. He is well used and his character is well designed. Arjun Das, Nassar and others did their jobs well and all the other actors delivered their best for the film. Malavika Mohanan, the leading lady has no prominence in the film and her role has no importance to the script.
The story offering nothing new and is laced with commercial ingredients. The screenplay should have been better. The background score by Anirudh and the cinematography work are the major highlights of the film among the technical aspects. The action stunts will thrill the masses and the fans of Vijay. The editing should be better and the second half looks dragged mostly. The production values are grand enough. Lokesh Kanagaraj falls short of the expectations with Master after a sensation like Khaidi.
Master is an attempt that falls short of the expectations because of the predictable presentation and dragged narration. Vijay tops the show but this alone cannot save the film.
